In 2005, with the aim of creating an environmentally sustainable society, the European Commission introduced a regulatory framework for producer responsibility for electrical equipment. In Denmark, producer responsibility for WEEE is regulated by the Environmental Protection Act and the Statutory Order on electronic waste.
